Business pitch competition now accepting applications
Deadlines are quickly approaching, as applications for the RIT Business Pitch competition are now due by July 15. The original application deadline was in June. The top winner will receive $25,000 at the finals in late August.
The objective for the competition, which is hosted by Rochester Institute of Technology’s Center for Urban Entrepreneurship, is to provide access to capital, for businesses that are beginning to grow and provide services.
Registration is open to owners who have a business plan and a model that is generating a minimum of $25,000 in annual gross revenue. Applicants must be 18 years or older and all businesses must be operating within Monroe County.
Ten businesses will be selected to participate in the competition. Through the competition, participants must meet at least once with a business coach and attend boot camp sessions covering financial literacy, pitch etiquette and updating the business plan.
At the finals, judges will examine the viability of the business model, competitive advantage, marketability, industry expertise of the owner, financial strength of the business and company growth. The finals are scheduled for August 25 at Hyatt Regency Rochester, 125 E. Main St. in Rochester.
