Commercialization Competition applications accepted until August 9, 2023
The top award for the New York State Commercialization Competition will be $150,000 and applications will be accepted until August 9. This honor, designed to allow companies to demonstrate the commercialization potential of their technology or product, is part of the FuzeHub Jeff Lawrence Innovation Fund Manufacturing Grants. Awards of $50,000 will be granted to the best applications outside of the top award.
Overall, the goal for the competition is to help small manufacturing and technology companies further develop their prototypes for the marketplace. The awards help encourage additional investment and customers as well as helping companies strengthen their “go-to-market” strategies.
Finalists will compete in person during the NYS Innovation Summit, which will be held on October 16 and 17. This is held at the Saratoga City Center & Saratoga Hilton Hotel in Saratoga Springs.
To be eligible, companies must have an existing tangible prototype. For this competition, the prototype is the physical representation of an idea or product presented as an early sample or test model that contains innovative hardware or manufacturable components.
• Applicants must propose to fund activities to improve upon an existing tangible prototype and/or improve upon their “go-to-market” strategy.
• Company must reside and operate in New York State from the time it submits the application until at least a twelve (12) consecutive month period following the award announcement, or project completion, whichever is longest.
• Company must be registered with Dun & Bradstreet and have an eligible North American Industry Classification System (NAICS) code specific to manufacturing identified in their D&B profile.
• Company must be pre-revenue (less than $100,000 in revenue).
