Don’t miss #Gettingto5050 April 26
The adaptable mind requires the best of all men and all women. We live together, we work together, we need each other.
Please join me in a global conversation #Gettingto5050, which is all about making salaries transparent and ensuring that value creation gets paid what it is worth. We want to closes the gender pay gap.
Tiffany Shlain has been the visionary catalyst for this movement. You can watch the film she released last year that celebrates women in leadership roles across history.
Last year, there were more than 11,000 events in 146 countries across the globe. At Carlson Cowork, we hosted an event sponsored in partnership with RocGrowth; it had 85 participants.
Please join us this time at Downtown Cabaret Winton Place 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. to hear new stories, celebrate new victories and move the needle toward pay equity.
Thanks to the amplification of State Street Global Advisors, we know that according to MSCI, “companies with strong female leadership generated a return on equity of 10.1 percent per year versus 7.4 percent for those without a critical mass of women at the top.” We know this. We have known this. The dial has not changed in proportion with the intelligence. This is beyond cognitive bias. We are still seeking ways to transcend the polarization that often occurs in this conversation. Korn Ferry Institute also is a treasure trove for learning key aspects for what women need to thrive.
Data cannot save us. We are not moved by data. We are moved by imagery, we are moved by art, we are moved by people who inspire us. In Simon Sinek’s epic Golden Circle, he reminds us that decisions are made in our limbic system which is non-verbal. I am reminded of Toni Morrison’s evocative statement:
- This is precisely the time when artists go to work. There is no time for despair, no place for self-pity, no need for silence, no room for fear. We speak, we write, we do language. That is how civilizations heal.
- Art inspires and transcends the binary. It is my hope that these links provide a transformative experience that you can take to your dinner table, to your team meetings, and perhaps the coffee shop. Let us reclaim conversation.
