Health Care Originals Founder Named Technology Woman of the Year
Sharon Samjitsingh, co-founder, Health Care Originals Inc., was named winner of the Technology Woman of the Year Award, sponsored by TechRochester.
A total of 19 women were nominated for the award, which recognizes a professional in the technology field who makes a strong impact on the Rochester community. Samjitsingh was nominated for this award by Jean Kase.
This year’s winner has developed an effective solution for managing chronic respiratory diseases in 2013. She then cofounded Health Care Originals, an award-winning company that utilizes proprietary technology. Its mission: “provide better insight into respiratory disease, allowing freedom and peace of mind.” Her company provides the only patch-type ambulatory cough monitor in the world, which works to support the more than 300 million people in the world who have asthma.
“In my work, I am developing relationships with people who can commercialize high-tech products,” Samjitsingh says. “Our goal all along has been to “improve quality of life.”
Her efforts span the globe where she works as an inspirational leader sharing technology being developed here in Rochester. Samjitsingh also leads projects for Sweetwater Energy. Currently, she heads a project in Estonia illustrating the commercial efficacy of technology. This consortium includes leaders from Finland, Germany, Belgium, Italy, France and Estonia.
Without doubt, as TechRochester stated, “Samjitsingh embodies the drive and dedication of a successful entrepreneur and teammate.” Within the next year, Samjitsingh hopes to establish her company’s presence in South Africa and in Austria.
