Imagine Monroe, TEN partner with Chloe Capital to attract women-led tech firms
Imagine Monroe and The Entrepreneurs Network are partnering with venture firm Chloe Capital to attract women-led tech firms to the Rochester region. The initiative kicks off Dec. 4, with the Rochester Women Investors Forum.
“Working together, Monroe County’s TEN program and Chloe Capital are building a movement that will help women reach their fullest potential,” Monroe County Executive Cheryl Dinolfo said. “Statistics show women are half as likely as men to start a business and women-led tech companies receive less than 5 percent of all venture capital in America.
“Chloe Capital is offering local women an incredible opportunity to connect with potential investors and join a supportive community that aims to help women-led companies grow more jobs, especially in the fields of tech and innovation.”
At the event, five women-led innovation companies from across New York will pitch their ventures. The winner will receive a $100,000 investment from Chloe Capital, along with the opportunity to pitch another funding partner, Astia Angels, for additional follow-on investment. A panel of experienced investors will help select the winner. Those interested in attending the investing workshop or live pitch event can register at CHLOESrochester.eventbrite.com.
The Rochester Women Investors Forum will include leaders in angel investing and venture capital who will share industry insights through inspirational fireside chats, panels and investor talks. It allows the Upstate New York entrepreneurial community members to connect with Chloe Capital’s network of “Super Angels,” including Carlos Gutierrez. Gutierrez is a General Partner at Impala Ventures, and a Managing Director of Golden Seeds, which has invested over $100 million in more than 150 women-led companies.
“We share the goal of investing in women with money and with education,” added Jean Kase, TEN Executive Director. “We’re spreading the word about opportunities for women-led innovation companies beyond what either organization could do on its own. Together we’re helping to drive localized investment in women leading innovation in Upstate NY.”
The headliner of the forum is Michele Madansky, co-author of “The Elephant in the Valley” which surveyed and documented cognitive bias, gender discrimination and sexual harassment encountered by women in the tech field.
Chloe Capital is a seed-stage venture capital firm that invests in women-led innovation companies. The firm is holding investing workshops and pitch events across the United States. These initiatives support female entrepreneurs, and empower local investors to join the movement. Chloe Capital will kick off its national tour with the Rochester Women Investors Forum.
