New RIT scholarships established by game studio Vicarious Visions
Game studio Vicarious Visions (VV) and Rochester Institute of Technology’s MAGIC Center have established a partnership that will include new scholarships for RIT students. RIT and the game studio shared their Memorandum of Understanding (MOU), which reinforces an already strong relationship.
The studio is known for creating successful game franchises, such as Guitar Hero, Destiny 2, Skylanders, Marvel Ultimate Alliance, and Spider-Man. Over the years, Vicarious Visions has hired numerous RIT alumni and brought on RIT co-op students.

Details are provided for two scholarships, which will provide financial support and promote diversity and inclusion in the field. These scholarships will be granted to students in degree programs related to game design and development in the Golisano College of Computing and Information Sciences and the College of Art and Design.
Valued at $2,500 each, the scholarships are to be awarded annually and are the first sponsored by Vicarious Visions or its parent company, Activision. The “Pathfinders” scholarship will be awarded to an RIT student who inspires others and embraces failures as lessons learned. For the “In It Together” scholarship, a student will be recognized who reinforces the game studio’s commitment to quality and passion.
The memorandum also includes information on sponsorships, class portfolio reviews, internships, and a speaker series that will help bring new talent into the industry. Overall, the goal is to recognize students who make work fun and endeavor to do their best every day.
