Tympana wins Best of Show at Bio-IT Conference

DataCicada was named a Best of Show award winner at the 2023 Bio-IT World Conference for its launch of Tympana. A web-based program, Tympana takes “noisy data” and changes it into “meaningful results” for domain experts.

Each year, the Best of Show award program at Bio-IT World recognizes innovative product solutions for those in life sciences.

Tympana provides solutions for those working in the life sciences industry. The program offers data analytics and the opportunity to tell the story with data, as well as data assessment, which can evaluate the readiness of an existing data source. In addition, Tympana provides predictive model development, which enables users to create models that scale analytical processes for domain. With the high volumes of data that are often created, it is not possible to look at every instance.

Designed to be user friendly, Tympana requires no programming or coding skills. Tympana integrates active learning and explainable artificial intelligence to develop datasets that can be used for scientific workflows. While it can be easy to instruct users how to recognize a specific object within an image, it requires years of training to properly evaluate a sensor reading from a DNA sequencer, an X-ray, CT scan, or a particle accelerator. With Tympana, scientists can comb through huge volumes of data and show the computer which elements are important, which enables scientists to determine the functions of their own analysis.
